Upholstery - part 2

I went to pick up my foam... the orginial stuff was gassing me out in the car (my storage for this project) and picked it up from Livedale Foam in Farnsworth... the staff are really helpful and have sorted me out even when I lost a piece! They copy the original and two days later I have fresh smelling foam!

So the current state of the chair looks like this:

Ok so not much progress this week as I'm still hunting around for the right material... Which is along the lines of this:

And this:

However this is Next fabric at the "bargain" price of £20 a meter and waiting time of 3 weeks. Not really an option. So instead I'm off to the Bankrupt Shop in Preston - the name being quite fitting for the amount of money I'm spending on this project:
- chair on ebay - £35
- upholstery classes - £55 (for 4 months)
- new foam - £45
- glue & accessories - £5

On the positive note our course tutor said this chair in a good original state was fetching £600 at an antique stall. So maybe I don't feel that bad after all.

Upholstery

I have signed up for an upholstery course. I love doing things like this and a bit of creativity is always stimulating! So I went on ebay in search of a chair and found this retro 60s egg chair and fell in love:

Obviously its in a state and certainly not worth the £35 I paid for... however... I am committed now...
As I started taking it apart my faith wavered ever so slightly...
A wavered some more...
And hit rock bottom around about here:
However after getting rid of all the old material and foam I could finally breathe... I've sanded it down and ordered some foam...

Await the transformation...
